If you’re running out of gas before the day is over, then you need better fuel.

Just like your car, your body performs at it peak when given the right nutrients.

That means no processed foods.

Only fresh, whole foods will energize and replenish.

Here are some suggestions on how to fuel your tank, the healthy way:

Bananas –

Nature’s energy bar. The brain operates at it’s peak with 25 grams of glucose circulating in the blood stream.

The average banana contains exactly that amount.

Eat one in the morning and one mid-afternoon to boost your performance.

Eggs –

Eat eggs in the morning.

They are packed with choline, a fat-like B vitamin that enhances memory and reaction time. That’s the time of day when you need it the most.

Choline also increases the size of neurons in the brain. That helps you stay focused and on task.

Blueberries –

You ever just want a sweet snack.

Well, instead of reaching for one of those overpriced “energy” bars, go for a handful of fresh blueberries.

They are high in antioxidants, which improve motor coordination and memory.

Blueberries are also known to counteract oxidative stress and reverse age-related deterioration in coordination.

Avocados –

If you aren’t eating avocados all the time, you’re missing out on one of the best natural foods on the planet.

High in mono-unsaturated fats, avocados improve blood flow and contribute to healthier brain functioning.

Salmon –

Instead of eating red meat all the time, try salmon a couple of times per week.

One salmon filet is high in protein, omega-3s, vitamin B, and iron.

The combination of these nutrients can help to improve recall, memory, focus, and logical reasoning.

Okay. Now you know what foods to eat.

Here’s a list of the foods that will ZAP you of your energy:

Soft Drinks –

I know, love your morning Diet Coke.

But your morning Diet Coke definitely doesn’t have your health in mind.

It doesn’t matter if the soda you’re drinking is diet or regular, it contains large amounts of sugar, aspartame, phosphoric acid, benzene, artificial food colors, and sodium benzoate – each of which are directly linked to serious illnesses and disease.

Processed White Flour –

One of the worst things you can eat for your brain is processed white flour.

The starch found in things like white rice, white pasta, and white bread quickly turn into sugar after you eat causing a quick spike in blood sugar.

That leads to a sudden crash as your blood sugar drops.

Potato Chips –

Bet you can’t eat just one.

Tasty? Yes.

Good for you? No.

Potato chips have a ton of unhealthy fats, sodium, and processed carbs.

They’ll leave you feeling tired, irritated, and unfocused.

Stay away from chips altogether.

Cereal –

Tens of millions of Americans wake up every morning and pour themselves a bowl of cereal.

It’s just part of what we do, right?

Well, you need to rethink your morning routine.

Most cereals have high-fructose corn syrup and sugar.

This is a lethal combination that will leave you crashing mid-morning.

Fruit Smoothies –

I hear it all the time – “I thought smoothies were good for you”.

Healthy fruit smoothies do exist, and you can make them yourself easily enough.

But the ones you pick up at the store or make from a mix aren’t good for you.

In fact, they contain so much sugar that they’ll leave you feeling sleepy and totally out-of-it.

Remember, you are what you eat.

It’s an accurate statement that you need to pay attention to if your goal is to get the most out of your day.

Find someone to hold you accountable, and start a new plan.

Stop eating the foods that slow you down, and start eating the ones the energize you.

Six months from now you’ll be an entirely different person.
